Recap via Instagram Diary

I have been super busy with orders, and working on my the line after hours and on weekends, pretty much since March.  I am so excited about the new line, but no sneak peeks! :)   However, I can show you what else has been going on around here..

Sophia sleeps in the best positions, I seriously waste so much time taking pics of these cats.
Beautiful sunset in the park, with dinner that we brought (and I made shockingly!) I rarely make dinner, I always tell Alex we are having leather scraps for dinner, because I'm always up to my ears in them when he gets home from work.
I made bbq chicken and pasta salad.  I always use the Grandma's molasses bbq sauce recipe; the recipe used to be on the back of the bottle but you can get it here.  It's really easy, and it tastes so much better when you make it yourself!
I also made some pasta salad with deliciously in-season cherry tomatoes and basil, and chopped kale.
With Brooklyn Brewery Pilsner (because it seemed appropriate), and dark chocolate and blueberries for dessert. I love picnics! :)

Ok, so I have been wanting to get one of these cat caves for a while now, I finally purchased one. The cats literally were all over it as soon as I took it out of the box. It's made of felted wool; cats love wool because they can still smell the animal. Sophia alternates between laying on it, and trying to eat it. If you have a cat I highly recommend the cat cave; and colors are beautiful!
I bought this beautiful wall hanging from this shop on etsy. The colors are gorgeous! I think it is suppose to hang vertically, but I liked it horizontal in our bedroom on the wall at the end of our bed.
A less-attractive cat cave.. I just can't get rid of this eyesore, Murray is obsessed with it! awww...

Work....

I finished this brides maid order, I really love these perfect little pouches.  I think small clutches are dainty and elegant, with a vintage feel especially for a wedding.
It's funny to think back at my wedding, before I started Gift Shop Brooklyn, and I bought clutches for my brides maids!

Weekend date night. Vintage Liz Claiborne dress (Im assuming from the 90's), with a belt I made, and Rachel Comey shoes from a few years ago. I also have around my neck a pearl / cameo style pin my grandmother gave me she used to wear when I was little. I love it as a necklace! Thanks Nan! xo

Sunday we went to see Beck in Prospect Park. It was so amazing! If you know me, you know my deep love for Beck haha.  It was a really great show!

And lastly.. if you follow Garance Doré then you have seen her posts on white Birkenstocks.. it took some persuasion, but I'm sold!

About Me

My photo
All of my items are hand crafted by me in my Brooklyn, NY studio. I believe in USA hand made, supporting local, and supporting quality. All materials I use are sourced and purchased from vendors in the USA. I truly am inspired so much by nature. Just walk outside and there's millions of things to be inspired by, whether city or country. At different points in my life, or year, or day I can look at the same thing and see it in a completely new way. I realize Im not the first person to be inspired by nature, but I find it amazing how we can all be inspired so uniquely by it. I am a pretty practical person; I feel designs should have form AND function. I USE all of my designs to ensure ease of use, aesthetic appeal, and versatility. If at the end of the day I don't love it, it goes back to the drawing board; or on the back burner; or just tossed on the 'prototype' pile. I also make sure all my designs are items I personally would love to give as gifts.
