Weekend Blueberry Coffee Cake

Nothing beats blueberry coffee cake on a saturday morning with a cup of coffee, watching the cooking channel of course.

Ingredients:
1. Topping:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 cup butter, room temperature
1 teaspoon cinnamon
[In small mixing bowl, combine topping ingredients. Blend with fork until crumbly. Set aside.]

2. Wet Ingredients:
1 egg, beaten
I use only 1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup melted butter
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
[In a medium bowl, beat together beaten egg and 3/4 cup sugar and 1/3 cup melted butter.Add milk and vanilla.]

3. Dry Ingredients
1 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups sifted whole wheat flour (can be substituted for all white flour if preferred)
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
[Sprinkle a small amount of dry mixture onto blueberries just to coat, so they do not sink to the bottom of batter.  Stir the rest of the flour mixture into wet ingredients, mix just until combined.]

4. Mix blueberries into batter.

Sprinkle topping crumb mixture evenly over batter. Bake at 375° for 25 to 30 minutes, or until cake tests done.

Molasses

So I was giving myself the day off from sewing yesterday, but as always I couldnt sit still.  So I found myself in the kitchen baking cookies for our dinner at a friend's house.  I had some food-grade plastic bags from CLEAR BAGS.COM, and  I  made a cute label with the name of the cookies and the ingredients on the back.  I think it came out really cute, and was a hit at dinner!

My lovely husband put up shelves for me to try and be organized. I want shelves everywhere!
I love them!

I also LOVE glass jars. I use them for everything... yes, even light bulbs.
I also like to wrap trims around toilet paper rolls (see below) . How crafty :)

About Me

My photo
All of my items are hand crafted by me in my Brooklyn, NY studio. I believe in USA hand made, supporting local, and supporting quality. All materials I use are sourced and purchased from vendors in the USA. I truly am inspired so much by nature. Just walk outside and there's millions of things to be inspired by, whether city or country. At different points in my life, or year, or day I can look at the same thing and see it in a completely new way. I realize Im not the first person to be inspired by nature, but I find it amazing how we can all be inspired so uniquely by it. I am a pretty practical person; I feel designs should have form AND function. I USE all of my designs to ensure ease of use, aesthetic appeal, and versatility. If at the end of the day I don't love it, it goes back to the drawing board; or on the back burner; or just tossed on the 'prototype' pile. I also make sure all my designs are items I personally would love to give as gifts.
