Как дела?

Trip to the Russian Market in Brooklyn...

Very dramatic boxes of chocolates...

Как дела?  = How’re things? How’s it going? (informal)
[kahk dee-lah]

{I can't speak Russian, translation was found here }

Wrapper's Delight...

This year I was really into the old-fashioned 'parcel' look when wrapping my Christmas gifts...

What I used:
~ 100% recycled kraft paper from my local stationary store
~ 'Librett Durables' Biodegradable parcel post twine purchased at Ace Hardware
~ Simple white paper tags (from staples) punched with a decorative paper punch (Martha Stewart Brand)
~ Finished with a sprig of greenery (cut from a bush at my parents house)
~ To keep with the old fashioned theme, I didn't use any gift boxes.  I really love the simplicity!

3 teaspoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1 teaspoons sea salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
a (tiny) pinch of cayenne pepper
1 lb mix of whole raw cashews, pecans, almonds, & walnuts

Here's what to do...
Heat the oven to 350 degrees (325 for dark or nonstick pans). Spray baking sheet or roasting pan with nonstick cooking spray.
In a bowl, whisk together the melted butter, maple syrup, honey, rosemary, brown sugar, paprika and cayenne pepper until smooth. Add cashews and mix to coat.
Pour the nuts onto the baking sheet and sprinkle with salt. Bake for 20 minutes or until the nuts are golden brown. Leave to cool. The nuts will crisp and harden as they cool

About Me

My photo
All of my items are hand crafted by me in my Brooklyn, NY studio. I believe in USA hand made, supporting local, and supporting quality. All materials I use are sourced and purchased from vendors in the USA. I truly am inspired so much by nature. Just walk outside and there's millions of things to be inspired by, whether city or country. At different points in my life, or year, or day I can look at the same thing and see it in a completely new way. I realize Im not the first person to be inspired by nature, but I find it amazing how we can all be inspired so uniquely by it. I am a pretty practical person; I feel designs should have form AND function. I USE all of my designs to ensure ease of use, aesthetic appeal, and versatility. If at the end of the day I don't love it, it goes back to the drawing board; or on the back burner; or just tossed on the 'prototype' pile. I also make sure all my designs are items I personally would love to give as gifts.
